Sticker Station is committed to the
safety of Maine drivers, by providing a
convenient, professional, honest
facility for receiving a state inspection sticker.

Do I need an appointment?
We provide walk in service. We do not take appointments. We do not accept drop offs.

Can I drop off my vehicle for inspection?
We do not do drop off inspections, you must wait with your vehicle until the inspection is complete.

When is a good time to come in for an inspection?
First thing when we open is a good start, and typically in the middle of the month. All locations do shut down in the middle of the day for half-hour lunch for our technicians. The busiest times are the first and last week of the month where you can expect to wait upwards of an hour or more. We ask for your patience and understanding regarding the limits of our service and what we’re able to charge per state restrictions. We do our best to accommodate all those who are willing to wait.

What do I need to have to get my vehicle inspected?
You must have a valid and printed form of Maine registration that matches all your vehicle information. The car must be currently registered.  You and your vehicle must be at the shop at the time of sign-in!

How long does an inspection take?
Once a vehicle enters our bay, the process takes about 20-25 minutes for a vehicle that passes. Some vehicles dependent on condition can take over 30 minutes.

Why do I have to pay for a failed inspection?
The fee is for the service/labor of inspecting the vehicle to ensure it follows Maine State Law. The fee is not for a sticker, a sticker is issued upon passing the inspection.

What happens if I fail?
The technician will give you a written list of the repairs that need to be completed before the vehicle can be issued a sticker.

Why do I have to have the vehicle re-inspected after I have the repair completed, and why am I charged again?
The technician must re-inspect, not to try and find other issues, but to confirm that all the problems were corrected properly. The fee is charged again because the service is provided a second time.

HEADLAMP RESTORATION SERVICE

What is head lamp restoration?
Instead of replacing headlamps, which is costly, headlamp restoration is a multi-step process we use to restore deteriorated and discolored headlamp covers damaged from UV rays and the outside elements.

How do I keep my headlamps in good condition after having them restored?
After restoring, a plastic polish should be used occasionally to maintain the clarity of the lamps. Which we sell at our locations.

AFTERMARKET TINT

What is allowable window tint in the state of Maine?Any vehicle with after-market tint on the front windows before the B panel, must be in accordance with the Maine State law. The regulation is 35% transmittance or higher WITH a Tint Certificate declaring the vehicle’s window tint is in fact 35% light transmittance or higher. You must have a valid Tint Certificate to pass inspection.

I don’t have a tint certificate, where can I get one?
The Sticker Station provides a tint test with inspection to determine if the tint is within the guidelines. If the vehicle passes, we can provide a Tint Certificate for $30.00 that is good for the life of the vehicle. Any Certified Tint Station should also be able to provide the Tint Certificate service.
